About the Pitman schedule
The Pitman schedule is a fixed 12-hour rotation. Crews do not swap between days and nights: Crews A and B work days, Crews C and D work nights. You will also see it called the 2-2-3 or 2-3-2 schedule, depending on whether the source counts the days off or the days on.
The cycle repeats every 14 days: work 2, off 2, work 3, off 2, work 2, off 3. Each crew works 7 of every 14 days, which averages 42 hours a week. The two crews on the same shift type are mirror images, so one of them is always working while the other is off.
Because the cycle is 14 days long and not 7, your days off land on different weekdays from one week to the next. The weekend card above counts how many full weekends off you get in the next eight weeks for your start date.

Questions
How many hours a week is a Pitman schedule?
It averages 42 hours: seven 12-hour shifts every 14 days.
What is the difference between 2-2-3 and 2-3-2?
They usually describe the same 14-day pattern. One name counts the off-day blocks (2, 2, 3) and the other counts the work blocks (2, 3, 2). If your employer's rota looks different, check it against the cycle strip above.
Do I rotate between days and nights?
Not in the standard Pitman. Crews keep the same shift type. Some departments change the pattern, so confirm with yours.
How do I add it to my phone calendar?
Press Download calendar (.ics) to export the next 12 months of shifts, then import the file into Google, Apple or Outlook calendar.
Is there a printable Pitman schedule template?
Yes. Set your crew and start date, then press Print the whole year. You get a 12-month Pitman calendar for your crew, two pages, ready to print or save as a PDF. It uses your own start date, so it matches your posted schedule instead of a generic grid.
Is this my official schedule?
No. It is generated from the standard pattern. Your employer's posted schedule is the one that counts.
